Welcome to Marshall Middle School!  We are fortunate to have a beautiful building in which to attend our MS years.  The Marshall Middle School building houses all students in grades 5-8, the District Office, the ECFE program (Early Childhood Family Education), the ECSE program (Early Childhood Special Education), and the Community/Education Minority Child Advocate program.

Our students have many opportunities here at Marshall Middle School.  Core, exploratory, and enrichment classes are offered on a daily basis.  Co-curricular offerings take place throughout the year.  In addition, we offer an After-School Program that involves both activity and academic focus.  Project Success is also available after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  EL classes are offered during our regular day, after school, and over the summer.  Also during the summer is our district summer school programming to include all grade levels housed at the Middle School facility.

Our core classes (advisory, language arts, math, reading, science, and social studies) are essential classes for our students.  All MMS students take these classes throughout the year.  Our exploratory classes (art, computer technology, health, music, physical education, and Spanish) are rotated on a quarterly basis.  Courses are consistent per grade level but are different between grades.  Our enrichment classes (band, choir, orchestra, and many others offered opposite these courses) are recommended electives for our students. Our continuous improvement occurs through blended classrooms in reading, math and English learners.  The combination of these courses along with the class sizes within the building and the more specific opportunities our students have in both reading and math provide for a diverse and well-rounded student at the culmination of their middle school years.
Our schools in Marshall receive a great deal of community support.  Thank you to the community for their continued support of our school.  We at MMS are committed to developing the potential of each learner for success in a changing world.  We are proud of the fact that MMS test scores continue to rank above the state average.

Should you have any questions about Marshall Middle School, we would be happy to assist you.  Please do not hesitate to contact us!

  • Backpack Program:

Each year the United Way of Southwest Minnesota donates a limited amount of school supplies to be used for students in need.  Please note that this year Marshall Public Schools will not be distributing backpacks and supplies before the school year begins.  If your family is in need of a backpack and/or school supplies, please talk with your school office during your scheduled visit on September 6th or 7th.  This program is designed for families experiencing financial hardship and for students in need.  Thank you to the United Way for coordinating this generous program to help each student at Marshall Public Schools be successful in the classroom!
